On Monday and Tuesday, the Collin County Young Dems were back in the phonebank chairs. They have their sights locked on an Austin Community College Board Trustee Position in Austin.
Julie Nitsch for ACC Board
Julie Ann Nitsch, who served as a Bernie Sanders Staffer and National Delegate has thrown her hat in the ring for a spot on the Austin Community College Board. She plans to bring healthcare options to the students, support childcare on campus and fight for fair employment practices throughout the organization. Julie’s opponent is an incumbent who had previously announced her departure but made a surprise filing at the deadline to reclaim the seat.
Julie has garnered endorsements from labor unions, progressives across the state like Jim Hightower and Bernie Sanders himself. Because she earned a coveted spot on the slate endorsed by Our Revolution, she is now also being granted access to their phone dialer system and impressive network of contacts. The Collin County Young Dems are joining Texas Bernie supporters across the state, gathering in Democratic offices, coffee shops and homes, to call Our Revolution members who have voting rights in the Austin Run Off.
Texans are fighters, and the Collin County Young Dems are fighting for one of their own. If the Young Dems and Our Revolution get their way, Julie Nitsch will be one more Bernie supporter who has heeded the call to political revolution by succeeding in her own election to public office.
